About the archive: how it works
We record accounts of what people experienced themselves and keep them as case files. We do not prove or disprove. We want the account written down exactly, and the reader to see where it came from.
What “as told by the witness” means
Each account is published as the author told it, word for word. We did not visit the place or question other witnesses. We neither claim it happened exactly this way nor claim the opposite.
How reports are reviewed
- Receipt. A report gets a case number. Until it is published only you and a moderator can see it.
- Safety check. We look for personal data, exact addresses, threats and advertising and remove them or ask the author to fix them.
- Badges. A content note and an entity label are assigned automatically. We never rewrite the text.
- Publication and edits. The case gets a stamp. Any edit is checked again.
What the stamps mean
- Filed
- The case is accepted and published.
- Under review
- A report or an edit is still being checked.
- Second-hand account
- The author tells what someone else told them.
- Updated
- The author added details after first publication.
- Translated
- Translated; the original is on the case page.
What is not here
No ratings, scores, streaks or rankings. Entity badges only help you search and cannot be collected or compared. No ads and no news feed.
Accounts may contain strong language and the theme of death. We hide nothing behind a wall, but show a short note where relevant and give you a “mask strong language” switch.
Rules and removal
