Rules, privacy and removal

A plain-language summary of how this archive treats the people in it. It is not legal advice.

What this is

A collection of first-person accounts, published as the authors told them. We do not verify them, and we do not claim they happened exactly as told.

What we store about you

Without an account: nothing about you is kept on a server, and there are no tracking cookies or analytics. If you choose to sign in, we set one session cookie so you stay signed in, and store only a scrambled id from your provider (no name, no email). Your theme, language, saved cases, "similar experience" marks and report drafts are kept in your own browser, and you can clear them at any time. The report form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots; it loads a script from Cloudflare and checks your browser, without puzzles. A submitted report is stored with a salted hash of its edit link; we do not store your IP address. If you write comments, they are shown with the name you chose (or Reader-XXXX) and can be deleted by you at any time; deleting your account deletes your comments.

What can be published

Accounts of what happened to you or to people you know. Please leave out real names of private people, exact addresses, phone numbers, and details that identify children. We remove or ask you to change such details. We do not publish threats, hate, advertising or instructions for harming anyone. For now the archive is text only: we do not accept photos, audio or video.

Taking a case down

If you wrote an account, or you recognise yourself or someone you know in one, ask us to remove it and include the case number. We remove it. We do not need a reason.

Strong language and heavy themes

Accounts are shown unchanged and may contain strong language and the theme of death. Where relevant, a short note appears above the account, and you can mask strong language with a switch. If you or someone near you is in danger, please contact local emergency services or someone you trust.

Where the accounts come from

The first accounts were shared anonymously in a public community and are reposted here with attribution to that community. Authors keep their rights to their words, and we do not claim authorship.
