Two Accounts from the DPR: The Torn-Out Lock and the Creaking Wardrobe
Notestrong language
Story from my mother. We used to live in the DPR, my mom had a house left in the city as an inheritance from her relatives. Of her relatives, only my grandma was still alive at the time. She comes home from work, it's stifling hot outside, not a hint of wind or a draft, so my mother decided to open the balcony. Grandma had already gone to bed, and she goes into her room, also getting ready to turn in. She lies down on the mattress, because the bed was fucking wrecked, and she's just starting to fall asleep. And she used to lock the door to her room at night so that the huge dog — Lidiya — wouldn't come into her room, because sleeping with her was unreal, she kept whining. So anyway, my mother is already in that pre-sleep state, and, fucking hell, the door to the room suddenly swings open (tearing out the lock) and slams against the wall with a loud crash. Sleep, obviously, was gone in an instant, she dives under the blanket headfirst and gathers her thoughts to make a run for it to the kitchen. So she seems to have made it there, sat for a bit, had a smoke, and decided to go back to sleep, since there was nothing else to do, work tomorrow. She wakes up, sits in the kitchen having breakfast with grandma, and asks her: did you hear the crash at night? To which she got a negative answer. My mother told her the whole thing, grandma obviously didn't believe her, thought she was either tired or something. But after my mother showed her the torn-out lock — she was just as fucking shocked as my mom. They decided to take the door off, and forgot about the incident, it never happened again.
Story from my father. It all happened in the same DPR, my mother liked to sit and have a cultured rest with her sister. Well, and my father was at work until late, couldn't leave me, a little shit, alone. So we stayed at the sister's overnight. Father came home late, almost towards morning, and immediately crashed on his mattress. He's lying there, can't even get sleepy. And suddenly, the door of a Soviet-era wardrobe opens with a long creak. As soon as it opened all the way, it would immediately go to a half-closed state. And so on in a loop. The windows, according to my father, were all closed. He takes it, climbs under the blanket just the same, and five seconds later he bolted from that room, running to the kitchen. Then he didn't sleep until morning, and only lay down after waiting for us. He told us about this incident only when we moved out of that apartment and the DPR in general.

Possible ordinary explanations
Suggested by the editor, not the witness. Not a verdict.
- A draft or sudden pressure change could have caused the door to slam and the wardrobe to creak open.
- The dog might have pushed the door open, tearing the lock.
- Sleep paralysis or hypnagogic hallucinations could explain the experiences.
