Strange Events in a Rented House in Suponevo
My mom used to tell this story. It happened in the 70s in the settlement of Suponevo, Bryansk Oblast. My mom and dad were renting a house there not far from the Desna River. And one time some girlfriends and her sister came to stay the night with my mom (dad was away on a work rotation then), I don't remember why, but they decided to sleep in the attic. So, when everyone was getting ready for bed, settling down in the attic, and since there were no pillows, they decided to put part of an old sofa under their heads, it was very heavy, but with combined efforts they managed to move it to the mattress, put it under their heads and went to sleep. When they woke up, they discovered that the part of the sofa they had put under their heads was on the other side of the attic, how they didn't feel during sleep that something disappeared from under their heads, they never understood, especially since the piece of sofa was very heavy and one person alone couldn't have moved it.
Several years passed, my sister was already born, but since the house was poorly heated (it was winter), mom went to grandma's in the village, and dad stayed in the house. And so, one night he heard someone walking above, and so loudly that sawdust was falling from the ceiling. Dad got scared, of course, took an axe, but didn't go up to the attic and decided to try to fall asleep anyway. Early in the morning he decided to climb up there, but found nothing strange, the funny thing was also that if someone had come in there from outside, there would have been tracks in the snow, but there weren't any. And so, 40 years later, after hearing these stories from my mother, I suggested she find this house, and yes, she found it. The son of the owners my parents rented from lived there, but the son was a heavy drinker. The house was open, but no one was in it, we loudly said hello a couple of times, but no one came out to us), we didn't climb around in it, but quietly looked over the hallway and took off. That attic, by the way, was open)

Possible ordinary explanations
Suggested by the editor, not the witness. Not a verdict.
- The heavy sofa piece may have been moved by one of the sleeping women in her sleep or while half-awake, with the memory distorted over time.
- The footsteps could have been caused by animals such as rats, birds, or a stray cat on the roof or in the attic, and the sawdust falling from the ceiling might be from structural settling or temperature changes.
- The absence of tracks in the snow could be due to wind, melting, or the tracks being overlooked in the dark or from a distance.
